My Best Friend's Wedding

This past weekend I spent four fabulous days on Bald Head Island, NC not only relaxing, but more importantly celebrating a wedding. My best friend Sarah wed to Mr. Ryen Greer. Sarah is more than a friend, she is like a sister to me. We have lived together for the past three and half years in Charleston, SC. We have been there for each other in life's ups and downs in your twenties/post college life. She is a wonderful person with a giving heart and has found someone that brings out the best in her, as well as she does the same for him. I couldn't be more happy for her! I had the pleasure of altering her wedding gown and sewing in the bustle.

Paige's Baptism

Sorry for the delayed post! It is my goal to post more often. My niece Paige was baptized in late April. It was wonderful trip back home to Missouri and spending time with family and friends. The gown was completed the day before the baptism. Nothing like sewing on buttons, thread loops and embroidering the name on the slip at the last minute. In addition to the baptism, we attended a close family friends wedding Saturday evening. This picture to the left was taken at the reception of my beautiful mother, Paige and I. The pearls I am wearing were on loan from my grandmother. Thanks Grandma!

Pretty in Pink

Little Miss. Paige Eileen Manson is sound asleep wearing the pink batiste daygown I made. It's one of my favorite patterns, Babette by Sarah Howard Stone. Such a classic and best of all . . . easy to put together! All you need is pretty fabric, lace and buttons.

Speaking of pretty fabric, lace and buttons . . . surf over to my friend Martha's blog, Southern Matriarch http://southernmatriarch.blogspot.com/ She has so generously put together a fabulous giveaway!

I am planning on doing a tutorial on one of my patterns. Are there any suggestions? The Annie, Carter, Izzy, Claire or Maggie? I found a beautiful blue floral Liberty of London print that is calling for me to make a pretty dress! Cast your votes ladies!

Lacy Christening Gown Completed!

The gown has been smocked and completly constructed! Stitch a little everyday has paid off. . . and now I'm off to finish the slip and matching bonnet. This dress has really turned out prettier than I expected. Always a nice surprise. I changed the design from the original pattern to incorporate a few more heirloom techniques. You will notice on the sleeves I have attached entredeux to gathered fabric, along with a few rows of lace insertion and beading. I love beading! Just add a pretty ribbon for finising touches!

Christening Gown for a new neice

Welcome to my new blog! I hope you enjoy reading about my projects, new patterns, an antique find and a recipe or two!

Latest Project: Christening Gown
My youngest brother Ryan and his wife Tennille are the proud parents of baby girl, Paige Eileen. I have the honor of making her baptismal gown! I'm using Chery Williams Lacy Daygown pattern with Wendy Schoen's new machine embroidery cd, Blessed Beginnings. I love handwork, however this is a fabulous alternative!
